The Friends of Stapleford Miniature Railway (FSMR) have reassured the public that the railway will be open again twice this year for events.

Nigel Spencer, the group’s press officer, said that the popular 10-and-a-quarter inch gauge railway, based in Stapleford Park, near Melton, will be operating on the weekend of June 13 and 14 for a new public running event, with free admission and parking, supporting the Leicestershire and Rutland hospice Loros.

He added: “The popular three-day August Bank Holiday steam and vintage rally event (August 29, 30 and 31) supporting Loros and organised by the FSMR is unaffected and, contrary to rumours in the rally circuit, is still very much full steam ahead.”
