We really enjoyed our time at North Street. It was a small, friendly, quirky gym, which suited our needs at the time. But as our classes became more popular we outgrew the space.

Primal moved to Charlotte Street two months ago. The new gym was previously an office, but the team and I have revamped it, adding the Primal stamp throughout. We’ve also invested in new equipment. The new gym isn’t only larger but also has separate rooms including a main group fitness area, a personal training space, and a strength and conditioning room known as the Strength Shack.

We’ve always had great, friendly and sociable classes at Primal, but we really wanted a separate area so our clients could workout on their own too. Having the Strength Shack is a boost for us all.

The all-new Primal Fitness is good news for Melton Rugby Club, too. I’m a member of the first team and have trained the players for five years. Many team members are now benefitting from the improved facilities.

Another boost for Primal is the return of Simon, my twin brother. Simon has enjoyed a successful personal training career overseas working in gyms in Vancouver and, most recently, Dublin, where he worked closely with Ireland’s number one Muay Thai fighter.

Simon’s been a big boost to the gym. He’s using experience and knowledge gathered in other gyms to help everyone - from complete beginners to more experienced gym-goers.

As an independent gym, Primal Fitness has worked closely with other local independents to reach this exciting new stage. Simon and I would especially like to thank Neal Addison Accounting, Melton Building Suppliers, Great Food Club, Snapper Graphics, Surepipe, Tape Deck Design, Dan Johnson shop fitters and Sam Badham building services.

From our new premises, Primal Fitness is continuing its fitness classes including Boxercise, HIIT Circuits and Primal Conditioning. Over the years the gym has become known for its friendly, relaxed approach and cool music playlist during its classes. Simon and I are set to continue that, while adding extra sessions to the timetable including morning and evening six-week weight-loss courses. With more gym opening hours and a mum’s fitness class in the pipeline, it’s an exciting time for Primal.
