Campaign to get older people fit

A variety of exciting budget busting activities aiming to get older adults fit is taking place in Melton and the borough on Monday.

The week called ‘Feel Alive from 65’ is organised by LeicesterShire and Rutland Sport and is promoted by Melton Council.

It will allow people to try new activities for only £2.50 or less in a bid to encourage regular participation in sport or physical activity.

Activities from (September 28-October 4) include:

Monday 28

Tai Chi will run at Gloucester House, from 11.30am-12.30pm, (free).

Tuesday 29

Fishing Open Day will run at Lake View Fishery, from 10am-2pm, (£2.50 and must pre-book). Aqua Fit will run at Waterfield Leisure Centre, from 10.30-11.30am, (free). Zumba Gold will run at Burton Lazars Village Hall, from 11.30am-12.30pm, (£2). Forever Fit will run at Waterfield Leisure Centre, from 11.45am-12.45pm, (free). Senior Badminton will run at Melton Sports Village, from 2-4pm, (free).

Wednesday 30

Feel Alive from 65 Roadshow will run at Melton Sports Village, from 10am-noon, (free). Beginners Walk will run at Melton Country Park, from 10.30-11.30am, (free). Feel Alive from 65 Roadshow will run at Gretton Court, from 2.30-3.30pm, (free).

Thursday October 1

Feel Alive from 65 Roadshow will run at Granby House and St John’s Court, from 10-11am, (free). Seniors Day will run at Parkside, Melton council offices, from 10am-3pm (free). Yoga will run at Waterfield Leisure Centre, from 10.45-11.45am, (free). Feel Alive from 65 Roadshow will run at Cattle Market Tea Rooms, from 11.30am-12.30pm, (free). Feel Alive from 65 Roadshow will run at Gloucester House, from 1.30-2.30pm, (free). Senior Walk will run at Melton Country Park, from 1.30-2.30pm, (free). Feel Alive from 65 Roadshow will run at Asfordby Parish Hall, from 3-4.30pm, (free).

Friday 2

Coffee Morning will run at Melton Golf Club, from 11am-noon, (£2). Table Tennis will run at Gloucester House, from 1-4pm, (£2). Zumba Gold will run at Sage Cross Methodist Church, from 2.30-3.30pm, (£2). Tennis Session will run at Melton Sports Village, from 4-6pm, (free). Aqua Fit will run at Waterfield Leisure Centre, from 5-6pm, (free).

Saturday 3

Indoor Bowls will run at Bowling Green (LE13 OLR), from 10am-4pm, (free). Walking Football will run at Asfordby Hill Playing Fields, from 12.30-1.30pm, (free).

Sunday 4

Coffee and Golf Morning will run at Melton Golf Club, from 11am-noon, (£2).
