Ever since she won a writing competition at primary school Sophie Morgan has wanted to have her own book published and this week her dream came true.

The young Scalford woman has penned an American paranormal romance called Ashes, which was released as a paperback and e-book on Tuesday.

It took her two years to draft the novel and edit it down to the polished final version.

Hopes are high that it will sell as it’s been published by Samhain Publishing, one of the largest and most reputable American e-publishers.

Sophie said she was overjoyed to secure a contract with the company, which has already taken up an option on her second book, due to come out next year.

“I won a writing competition in primary school to have a poem published in an anthology, and ever since I’ve thirsted to see my books on the shelf in shops,” said Sophie.

“I wrote my first book at 16, and though it wasn’t published, because it was riddled with clichés, it didn’t discourage me. I’ve always had characters in my head, all wanting to find their own love stories.”

Ashes tells the story of a heroine called Ana, who is a runaway phoenix princess, a fierce hothead facing challenges in a broken kingdom.

Ashes, by Sophie H.Morgan, is available online at www.samhainpublishing.com as a paperback or ebook.
