Thousands of visitors are expected to flock to the town’s cattle market this weekend for the 12th annual Melton Mowbray Food Festival.

More than 150 exhibitors, including food and drink businesses from across the East Midlands, will be showcasing their produce at the event which takes place on Saturday (October 3), 10am-5pm and Sunday (October 4), 10am-4pm.

Once again visitors will be able to enjoy a huge selection of edible delights from some of the country’s finest producers, many from the East Midlands.

Food-lovers will be able to sample artisan cheeses, gold-infused bubbly, steamed puddings, chocolate kebabs, gourmet British game and locally brewed ales.

Visitors will also get the opportunity to try the foods which have helped Melton establish itself as the UK’s ‘rural capital of food,’ namely traditional Melton Mowbray Pork Pies and Stilton Cheese.

The family food and fun area also returns to keep the children entertained as well as teaching them about food in a fun and interactive way.

Tickets are £6 on the day or £5 in advance from www.goleicestershire.com/foodfestival online or in person from Ye Olde Pork Pie Shoppe in Melton. Entry is free for children under 16.
