All the fun of a traditional country village fete can be had at Burrough-on-the-Hill on Saturday from 2pm to 5pm.

This year’s event set in the gardens of Burrough House is celebrating Alice in Wonderland’s 150th anniversary with a mad hatter’s contest for the best hat.

The gardens will be decorated with glimpses of Wonderland featuring a glorious arch of cards. Alice and the White Rabbit will offer a dual photo opportunity and games including other characters from the famous story will be dotted amongst the grounds.

The Burrough Historical Society will exhibit various pieces of village history at Bower House, beginning with excerpts from the Iron Age.

There will be games and stalls galore plus a tug of war competition, teas, Pimms bar and croquet.

Other attractions include a tombola, bric-a-brac, raffle and an auction of promises.

Admission is £1 for adults and children under 12 go free.
