Talented young Hoby dancer helps Team England become world champions at 2016 Dance World Cup

Isobel Knight (17) clinched four golds, five silvers and one bronze in trio and group dance routines during the week-long event in Jersey.

The Ratcliffe College student was one of 43 dancers from Leicester-based Dupont Dance Stage School chosen to represent Team England.

Throughout the competition Dupont won an amazing 24 medals, helping Team England top the medal table.

They were also the only dance school to win medals in all genres ranging from show dance, contemporary, tap, song and dance, as well as more traditional categories such as national dancing and Greek dance.

Isobel, a member of Dupont since she was five, currently trains four times a week while also studying for her A-levels in Spanish, ethics and philosophy and biology.  

She said: “The amount of medals we won shows our commitment paid off which is a great feeling. It was a privilege to be chosen to perform at such a prestigious event with so many other talented people from around the world. It was an unforgettable experience which has inspired me to train harder in order to reach my potential as a performer.”

Dupont was also the only dance school chosen to perform four of their winning dances again at the end of the contest in the gala showcasing the world champion dances. The tap group, in which Isobel performed, was named best tap group in the world.
