The event held in the town’s Play Close Park on Saturday, saw around 400 people turn up for some outdoor entertainment. It aimed to raise money for Hounds for Heroes, Rainbows Children’s Hospice, Pablo’s Horse Sanctuary and Dogs Trust.

Attractions on the day included bouncy castles, classic cars, kids games, food stalls, a dog agility, stocks and sponges and a pirate themed treasure hunt.

There was also a working fire engine and a visit from Melton Police.

Organiser Pete Wakefield said: “We’re proud to have provided such a successful free day to the public.

“I’d like to say a big thank you to the Melton Mowbray Town Estate for letting us use the park at a reduced cost and 103 The Eye for compering the event.

“Plenty of children and families turned up and it only rained lightly twice so the weather didn’t spoil the fun.

“We’re looking to go bigger and better next year and have plenty of space for people to set up attractions. If interested people should visit our website at http://international.mars.com/uk/en/about-mars/contact-us.aspx and call the Petcare team number.”
