Melton RAFA branch and club's open day to raise funds for Wings Appeal

The Melton Mowbray Royal Air Forces Association (RAFA) branch and club will be holding an open day on Saturday to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the adoption of the 1279 Squadron by the RAF Association branch in 1996.

The event, starting at the Asfordby Road branch at 12noon, will include a barbecue and refreshments, craft stalls, fundraising stalls, games and attractions including hook-a-duck, face painting, classic cars and a flight simulator.

There’s no charge for admission and everyone is welcome to attend to help raise funds for the RAFA Wings Appeal. Money raised will go towards providing much needed help to past, present and future members of the RAF and their families in times of need.

As part of the celebrations there will be a table football tournament as well as a special presentation ceremony at 5.30pm to mark the 50th anniversary of the adoption of 1279 Melton Mowbray Squadron.
