The event on Sunday at the village hall is set to include market stalls, a selection of inflatable fun fair games and rides, giant slides, paintball arenas, face painting, a falconry display and a parade by The Duke of Rutland’s Fox Hounds.

The aim of the family fun day which starts from 11am is to raise funds for the church and the village hall, to finish fixing its leaky roof.

Film, quiz and supper nights and coffee mornings have already been held to help boost the coffers and finance substantial repairs to the village hall, but fundraising is still a necessity.

Adelle Glossop, a Knipton resident and fundraiser, said: “For years there have been a small group of us trying to raise funds for the village and it’s been an uphill task, but over the last year there has been a tremendous upsurge in community spirit with many residents pulling together to organise events such as this.”

Tickets for the Duck Races are available at Knipton and Woolsthorpe shops. They can be purchased on the day, but booking them in advance is advised to help organisers judge numbers.
