The event focused on having fun and getting fit and people were put through their paces by fitness instructor Sam Pollard, who works at Melton’s Waterfield Leisure Centre in Dalby Road.

The theme of the morning was ‘Get fit for Summer: ‘Stay fit for Life’ and Sam showed some energetic exercises and some which could be done whilst sitting at home or in the office. He was joined by colleague Ben Heaver, who was on hand to explain to people the benefits of joining the leisure centre.

Members of St Mary’s Church choir, led those attending in two rousing singing sessions, and there was an appearance from members of the Melton Stroke Club.

There was also the opportunity to guess how many teaspoons of sugar are in everyday food, record BMI data, listen to stories, get creative in the arts and craft corner, play giant games, find out about quitting smoking and take part in a short act of worship.

A spokesperson for the church said: “Thank you to Waterfield Leisure Centre who donated a three month membership for our prize draw. The winner was Peter Devoto.”
