John Gass, treasurer of Eastwell Village Hall said: “Given the amount of quality competition, these awards are a fitting tribute to the design and construction expertise that went into the new hall.

“Enormous credit must go to D & D Construction (the builder), Hayward McMullan Associates (the architect), M.B. Lane Partnership (the quantity surveyor), MPA Broughton (the structural engineer), and Melton Borough Council (building control) for working together to produce such a wonderful community building.”

The new hall was built thanks to funding from the BIG Lottery Fund, WREN and a number of local organisations including Leicestershire County Council, Eaton Parish Council, and the Leicestershire and Rutland Community Foundation. The innovative design was also recognized last year, in the final of the Pride of Leicestershire Awards.

Phil Norgate, chairman of Eastwell Village Hall said: “We’re extremely lucky to be blessed with a resource that can be used by the whole community and one that enables us all to come together at our many social and cultural events. However, it isn’t just about the building.
