The new hall was built thanks to a successful Lottery bid and funding from a number of other local organisations.

The innovative design was officially recognized last year in the final of the Pride of Leicestershire Awards and it has also been shortlisted in this year’s regional Local Authority Bbuilding Control Building Excellence Awards.

Village Hall chairman , Phil Norgate, said: “It has been a very successful first year with over 250 bookings and 4,000 individual visits. We have hosted a huge range of events including community pub nights, art classes, history talks, dance classes, yoga, film shows, coffee mornings, concerts and charity fundraising.

“The new hall is a superb facility serving the whole community and it has really brought the whole village together.”

Celebrations to mark the occasion have included a fish and chip supper, where the anniversary cake was on view, and a sell-out celebration concert ‘Wild Willy’s French Connection’ has been organised this Saturday.
