The group’s base at Stapleford Park will be open to the public from Saturday (August, 27) through to Bank Holiday Monday (August 29), for an event held in support of Leicestershire and Rutland hospice Loros.

Three locomotives from different parts of the country will be in operation and there will be a licensed bar from Wicked Hathern Brewery selling bottled ales.

The 10-and-a-quarter inch gauge miniature railway will be up and running for rides and there will be vintage vehicles and tractors, trade stands, craft displays and machine demonstrations.

Nigel Spencer, press officer for Stapleford Miniature Railway, said: “We’re looking forward to welcoming visitors from all over the UK. The location is also very popular with fans of The Avengers television show as character Miss Diana Rigg was strapped to the rails here in 1965.”

Admission is from 10am each day and costs £3, with free entry for under 12s.

Camping and caravan tickets are available at £25 which includes admission.
