Charity event with England cricket icon

Randall served Notts with distinction for 20 years and played 47 Tests and 49 one day internationals for his country in the late 1970s and early 1980s, his unorthodox batting, unbelievable fielding and comic antics making him a fan’s favourite.

As a player and Ashes winner, Randall is best remembered for his famous innings of 174 in the Centenary Test at Melbourne, hooking, pulling, cutting and driving Dennis Lillee, while as a coach he helped spot the talent of Alastair Cook, the current England captain.

The evening will be hosted by former England A player Darren Bicknell who won the County Championship with both Surrey and Notts. He now runs the cricket trust which works with around 3,000 youngsters in the area each year.

Randall and Bicknell will also be joined by the Rev Canon Alan Haydock, an entertaining speaker and keen sportsman who supports both Nottingham football teams and was a member at Trent Bridge for many years.

Tickets for the event, at The Gingerbread in Trent Road, Grantham on Friday, June 10, are £20 each. They will include a two-course buffet and raffle and the bar will open at 7pm. Tables of 10 are also available.
