Belvoir Big Band looking to expand after a busy July

The group received a standing ovation at Hose Village Hall when they supported the Belvoir Wassailers and Harby Primary School’s choir in a charity concert for Dove Cottage Day Hospice.

The band then quickly turned out at Rempstone Steam and Country Fair in a packed beer tent, and provided a mixed programme of music for the large audience to listen to, and the Lindy Hop dance group to dance to.

Belvoir Big Band organiser Jon Jayes said: “The weekend of the 9 and 10 July was a very successful one for the band. The two gigs gave us some new experiences and we enjoyed playing tremendously.

“We have only been in existence for 15 months and we are now settling down with a regular and growing number of musicians.

“ We still need another trombone and trumpet player on a regular basis, but with numbers now standing at 27 we are truly a big band.

“We hope to expand our profile and make more appearances in the coming months at events in the area.”
