Children from the school in year three, four, five and six travelled to Sheffield Motorpoint Arena to sing in the concert which was celebrating 20 years of performances.

Pupils performed a variety of songs including a medley of Madness hits, ‘World in Union,’ a David Bowie tribute with ‘Life on Mars,’ and a song penned especially for the choir by Tom Billington. They also learnt choreography from ‘Urban Strides’ dancers.

Lisa Gackowska, teacher and choir club leader at the school, said: “It was fabulous to watch the children perform so confidently and enthusiastically to the audience.

“They really were the best prepared choir I have taken to Young Voices so far, and I’m so proud of all the effort the children put into learning both the songs and the dance moves.

“The energy in our block was brilliant throughout the entire show and the children were a big credit to our school.”

In March, the children will perform ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ with eight other schools at The Curve Theatre in Leicester. This is part of their final year project in the LearningPerformance Network with the Royal Shakespeare Company.
