Asked to bat first, Park lost Tyler and Simons cheaply before fine knocks from Harry Wells (39) and Paul Bailey (54) set up a strong foundation.

But as wickets started to fall, only Pedlar, the big-hitting Creed and Beeken managed to press on, leaving the home side 174-8 at tea.

But Collington and Doyle took the game away from Park, and despite two more scalps from Wells and Simons, the visitors chased down the total with three overs and five wickets to spare.

Director of cricket David Rodenby said: “The team fought hard, but just got outplayed on the day.”
