Stilton Striders: Keyworth Turkey Trot top 10 for Barton

A large group of Stilton Striders made the short trip to Keyworth for the Turkey Trot half-marathon on Sunday with nearly 1,000 finishers.

In decent running conditions on a difficult, challenging course, Jason Barton was first back for the Striders in 10th in an excellent time of 1hr 17min 22secs followed by Darren Glover who was 67th in 1.26.43.

Next back, after recovering from illness, was Luke Eggleston in 119th in a time of 1.30.28, while Clive Kent clocked a personal best of 1.33.22. They were followed by Richard Gray (1.37.22), Wayne Hackett (1.40.56), Jon Wilson (1.44.27), Dan Howley (1.51.16), Lou Houghton (1.51.27), Nick Pryke (1.55.46), Matt Chalmers (1.55.47), Sarah Proctor (1.55.47), Shane Sharkey (1.56.52), Sarah Lawrence (1.57.22), Jacqui Riley (2.00.25), Charlotte Allen (2.08.32), Lynda Harris (2.08.33), Helen Metcalfe (2.10.03), Laura Pickard (2.11.17), Kaye Mead (2.11.48), Susan Pettingill (2.16.58), and Jenny Kent (2.17.15).

* On Wednesday evening, six Striders travelled to Leicester for round two of the Victoria Park 5k winter series,

Runners had to contend with some very dark sections on the two-lap course around the park, but it didn’t stop Jason Barton from clocking a fantastic time of 17min 05secs to finish fourth.

He was followed by Darren Glover (18.56) who was 12th and third veteran and Clive Kent (20.13) in 16th.

First lady back for the club was Vicki Lowe in 23.05 (2nd vet 45 and 28th place), followed by Liz Goodbourn who recorded 24.01 for 32nd place and first vet 50, and Theresa Coltman (24.33) in 35th and third vet 50.

The results helped win the ladies’ team prize and six bottles of wine.
