A team of 12 Stilton Striders joined a bumper field of 630 runners at the final LRRL Summer League race of the season on Sunday morning, the John Fraser 10.
Held over 10 miles of undulating roads, starting from Countesthorpe, the race doubled as the Leicestershire 10-mile Road Championships.
The Striders were led home by Jason Barton who continued his excellent form to take sixth overall in 57min 28secs.
The next four Striders were all close together, exchanging places late into the race, with Rich Gray finishing in 1hr 10min 37secs, closely followed by 100 per cent award winner Luke Eggleston (1.11.23), Dan Valencia (1.12.05) and Shane Sharkey (1.12.46).
Iain Howe was next home in 1.14.20, followed by a close battle between Michael Cooke (1.16.01) and Ben Pickard (1.16.03).
John Houghton, nursing his damaged hand from the prior day’s fell race finished in 1.20.08 ahead of Vicki Lowe and Laura Pickard in 1.22.08 and 1.37.40. Stuart Gregory completed the team in 1.43.17.
