Melton U15s’s magnificent seven earns superb Harborough win
MARKET HARBOROUGH 26 MELTON RFC UNDER 15s 45
MELTON defeated their old rivals with a tremendous seven-try triumph.
Wood soon took command and opened Melton’s scoring with an early score after a jinking run. Harborough retaliated by scoring out on the wing following a scrum close to their line.
Melton sustained the pressure as the forwards took the upper hand with Loveday forcing Hall over the line for a second Melton try, converted by Green.
Green provided the next try and converted it himself before Harborough evened the score once again.
Melton upped their game with Robson’s run setting up a fourth try when Robinson dodged through the home defence. Harborough scored twice more to put them back in contention, but the visitors were not to be deterred.
Wetherill burst forward with sheer brute force and determination, careering over the line to restore Melton’s lead. Melton battled on, and good hands in the backs saw the ball offloaded to Wood who scored his second try after he was awarded a penalty near the Harborough line.
Now things were really flowing and after Robinson’s kick to the line had been held up, Wetherill took the ball from the lineout and barged over for his second score. Farnsworth converted three of the tries.
