Former Melton RFC star Will Hurrell could be heading to the Premiership with Doncaster Knights in his first season back in the game.

Hurrell is in their starting XV for tonight’s Championship play-off final first leg against Bristol with a place at the top table of English domestic rugby at stake.

The 26-year-old, who returned to the game this season after finishing university, has been one of Knights’ standout performers this season.

He won both Players’ Player of the Year and Coach’s Player of the Year at their club awards last week and was named in the Championship dream team XV for the 2015/16 season at centre.

Hurrell, who was a member of the Leicester Tigers academy and represented England at the Under 20s World Cup, scored a try in both legs of the 44-34 semi-final win over Yorkshire Carnegie.

* The game is being televised by Sky Sports, kick-off at 7.45pm.
