But the old adage of quality not quantity came into play as the Lincolnshire side were excellent.

Boston were heavily outnumbered by Melton, but showed great stamina by playing all three teams with passion and determination.

The skills demonstrated by both teams were outstanding and both sets of coaches were delighted to see the children really working hard to develop a more expansive passing game in a great morning of rugby.

* Melton RFC Under 11s played host to Boston and had a similar experience to the reverse fixtures in Lincolnshire earlier in the season.

The size of some of the Boston players was above average, there were knock-ons, high tackles, and hand-offs with a few Melton players sustaining injuries.

Despite this, Melton kept their sense of fair play and strength in the rucks, losing 4-0 in the first two games and 2-1 in the last game.

Nuneaton had enough players for two teams and had also set up a full-size pitch for the games, leaving the visitors at a disadvantage, and Melton lost both games 8-3.

However, they had flashes of brilliant play with excellent teamwork and team spirit.

Melton were stronger in both tackling and rucking, with strong defensive play, and every player gave 100 per cent to the games and each other.
