The pair met at the same stage last year when Melton edged a tight match 29-12 on their way to lifting the cup for the first time, and they also did the league double over the same opponents last season.

Six straight wins have lifted in-form Wyggs up to third in Midlands Two East (South) and their confidence will be high, while Melton are sixth in the league above.

National Three League side Syston, the highest-ranked team left in the competition, will meet Midlands One East rivals Lutterworth in the other semi-final on the same date.

In the meantime, Melton’s First XV return to league action on Saturday following a break in the league schedules.

Gareth Collins’ side entertain eighth-placed Bugbrooke at Burton Road with a 3pm kick-off.

It has been a new year of ups and downs in the league for Melton, with three wins and three losses in 2017, but they hold a daunting home record with just one defeat in three seasons.

Bugbrooke, meanwhile, will arrive on a run of four consecutive league defeats, but won the reverse fixture, 22-7, back in November.
