England rugby legend Neil Back will be mucking in at Melton RFC on Saturday as part of a weekend of renovations at their Burton Road HQ.
The club applied to the RFU to join the NatWest RugbyForce weekend and after earning an initial £500 grant, were one of just six clubs in the country selected by NatWest and the RFU to receive star treatment.
The prize starts with an extra £1,000 to spend on this weekend’s grand refurbishments, taking their total grant to £1,500, as well as a visit from the former Leicester Tigers star to help members complete the work.
The major project at Melton this weekend will be to create a separate community room within the clubhouse.
It will house a projector screen and a graffiti wall for youngsters to write messages of support for their England heroes.
As part of the six elite RugbyForce clubs, Melton will also receive The Ultimate Club Experience in September.
The package includes a brand new plasma TV screen, fun activities, events and materials to create a little bit of Twickenham at Burton Road to coincide with the England v Wales international.
This year more than 600 clubs nationwide are taking part in NatWest RugbyForce.
The scheme aims to help clubs get ready to open their clubhouses and be the place to watch England in this autumn’s World Cup, in turn attracting new members.
