Melton Olympic rider claims top 10 spot at regional cyclo cross trials

MELTON Olympic Cycling Club was well represented at the VC Nottingham Cyclo Cross event in Bingham.

Josh Snodin and Joe Thorn both put in good performances in a larger than normal field for a youth race.

The event was a selection race for the upcoming regional championships which meant the best riders from the area lined up no the starting line.

Overnight rain had made the course slick and with its many twists and turns, good bike handling was required to stay upright.

Both young Melton riders performed well with Josh just missing out on the top 20 in a fine 21st place and Joe in a creditable 38th position.

Alex Thorn and Jeff Snodin rode in the main race with a near record field of 162 riders.

Alex finished 10th junior and 143rd overall in only his second event over the longer distance, while Jeff finished in 75th place.
