SILVERWARE was served up as Hamilton Tennis Club held their annual presentation evening.

Trophies were awarded to winners and runners-up in the handicap tournaments, qualifiers’ section, club championships and veterans competitions.

Youngsters claimed the top titles with James Rowe scooping a hat-trick after winning the singles from Justin Horobin, men’s doubles with brother Tom, and mixed doubles with Charlie Griffin.

Amelia Coltman beat Beth Lowe to the ladies’ singles title, and added the ladies’ doubles title with Amy Douglas. Amelia was also runner-up in the mixed doubles with Ryan Parmar.

l On the Winter League scene, Hamilton ladies’ first team continued their winning ways with an 8-0 victory over bottom team Charnwood Seconds.

Both pairs won a maximum four sets with Amelia Coltman and Amy Douglas conceding only three games.

Scores: Jenny Golland/Laura Hayward W 6-4, 6-4; W 6-2, 6-1. Amelia Coltman/Amy Douglas W 6-0, 6-1; W 6-0, 6-2.

l The ladies’ second team were whitewashed 8-0 by a Loughborough first team which is much too strong for Group Five and are already almost promotion certainties.

Scores: Jo Heggs/Ruby Shelton L 0-6, 0-6; L 2-6, 0-6. Cindy Coulter/Pat Woolston L 2-6, 2-6; L 0-6, 1-6.

l The ladies’ third team lost 6-2 to Leicester University. Hazel Crymble and Christine Stanley won two sets, while Brenda Langridge and Margaret Wright won one.

Scores: Hazel Crymble/Christine Stanley W 6-2, 6-3; L 6-7, 4-6. Brenda Langridge/Margaret Wright D 4-6, 6-0; L 3-6, 3-6.

l The men’s first team managed a 4-4 draw with Sileby thanks to three sets from Justin Horobin and Peter Thorpe, and one from Jimmi Cox and Andy Douglas.

Scores: Jimmi Cox/Andy Douglas L 0-6, 6-7; D 2-6, 6-1. Justin Horobin/Peter Thorpe W 6-0, 6-2; D 6-3, 1-6.

l The men’s second team lost 7-1 to Market Bosworth and will have difficulty maintaining their position in Group Five. Doug Hacking and Ben Catlin won the consolation set.

Scores: Doug Hacking/Ben Catlin L 4-6, 4-6; D 1-6, 6-1. Nigel Crymble/Tom Keep L 6-7, 3-6; L 3-6, 2-6.

l The men’s third team recorded an 8-0 win when Market Bosworth Seconds were unable to field a team.
