Tennis: Hamilton teams toast a perfect week

Hamilton Tennis Club's mixed second team gained a welcome win when they beat Rothley Ivanhoe Firsts by six sets to three.

Each pair won two sets, but could not beat Rothley’s first pair.

* The first mixed team gained a narrow 5-4 win over Carisbrooke A.

James Rowe and Charlotte Griffin led the team with a maximum three sets with one each from the other two pairs to move to the top of Group One.

* The third mixed team recovered from their previous defeat to beat Medbourne 7-2.

Andy Stevens and Jenny Golland led the way with three sets, while the other two pairs, Joe Jackson and Emily Harrison, and Jimmi Cox with Margaret Heggs, won two each.

* The fourth mixed team defeated Blaby Victoria 6-3 with Doug Hacking and Sue Harrison taking a maximum haul of sets.

They were supported by two sets from Barrie Farnsworth and Sue Corfield, and one from Will Harrison and Margaret Shufflebotham.

* Hamilton’s fifth mixed team completed the set of victories with a 5-4 win over Houghton Seconds.

Nigel Crymble and Jill Woods claimed a maximum three sets with the other two pairs winning one and losing the other two by very small margins.

* The ladies’ veterans second team caught up with another of their re-arranged matches and managed a draw when Belvoir could only field one pair.
