JANET Noels Best could be giving landlady Janet Ling the perfect leaving present as they hold a comfortable lead at the top of division 3 after Steve Lang, Tabby and Andy Palmer helped them to a 7-2 success against Ingall’s Idiots.
The Saddle move up into second spot with Kev Hubbard, John Carter and Charlie Angrave all on form to beat the Phoenix Knights 6-3 and they were helped out by Half Cut, who were 7-2 victors at the Crown thanks largely to Martin Davis, Ian Prackauskas and Alun Davies. Also 7-2 victors were the Legion ‘B’, where Pete Dale, Lewis Sparling and Les Durrance all won twice to beat Notorious T.I.B, while Andy Stevens and Louis Morgan were the main men for I Smell A Re-rack, who edged out M.S.C Elite 5-4.
Armee Pere got back to winning ways in division 4 with Lees North and Powell, along with Bailey Rafell, all starring to help beat the Royal Poke. The Welby Onion Ring Stackers close in on second spot after a splendid 8-1 thumping of Toys ‘R’ Us, while Kyle Murray and Aaron Watson steered My Swans Are Sick to a 6-3 win against the Pool Boyz. Bernard Thorpe, Jed Wright and, in particular, Tony Wright, sparkled for the Con Merchants as they were 6-3 winners at the Burton St. Preachers and yet again an under-strength side proved you can still win as Steven Clifton starred for Touching Cloth as they were 5-4 victors at the Genny Jokers.
Back up in division 1 and the Thunders show they are still a force to be reckoned with as an eight-baller from Daz Graves formed part of their 8-1 triumph at the Swanderers and the Fulderiks continue their surge up the table with Tom Loomes and Josh Holdsworth well supported by Ben Manship and Darren Smith to lead them to a 7-2 success at M.S.C ‘A’. An eight-baller from Lewis Field helped set up the chance for Dave Smith and Craig Newbold to win the deciding frame to give the Cherry Tree a 5-4 win against the Noels BBs, while Dave Pritchett followed his earlier singles win by teaming up with Tim Curtis to win the final frame and edge a see-saw 5-4 battle for Timmy’s Stick at Eaton YM.
In division 2, Boys and Their Toys are trying to gate crash the party at the top as Dans Horton and O’Gorman guided them to a 5-4 win over the Welby. Johnny Wydra and Paul Middleton both won a couple to give Sean Wydra the chance to win the final frame and give Lads We’re Broke a 5-4 win over Harboro-Cadabra, while an eight-baller from Rob Howarth secured a 6-3 victory for Gang Crazy at Only Fools and Polish. Paul Robinson was on hand to provide the heroics to help Legion ‘A’ defeat the Conkerers 5-4 and the M.S.C 99s claimed over the absent A Treeam.
