Great Dalby Primary School swimmers crowned area champions

Pupils from 10 primary schools across Melton and the Vale of Belvoir took part in the gala with each school competing in a variety of races including freestyle relays, backstroke, butterfly, breaststroke and freestyle.

Great Dalby, who have a great past history at the area galas, managed to take first place from Frisby who finished a close second, while St Francis claimed third position.

Ab Kettleby took the Spirit of the Games trophy for showing great self-belief throughout the event.

Great Dalby will now go on to represent Melton and Belvoir at the School Games Summer Championships at Welbeck Defence Sixth Form College on June 30.

Melton and Belvoir School Sport thanked John Ferneley College Young Leaders for their help with time keeping, Schools Swimming for helping to organise the Gala and sponsors Melton Mowbray Lions Club, and congratulated all of the swimmers who took part.
