The club will again be based at Long Field Academy, in Melton, and in addition to the highly successful junior coaching programme of recent years, the OGs are introducing a similar scheme for intermediate players.

Club Captain Neil Hunt said: “It isn’t unusual for good junior players to find it difficult to bridge the gap to playing full senior badminton.

“With this in mind, we intend to create an intermediate section so players leaving the juniors can receive coaching in key skills to enable them to move to senior badminton with greater ease.

“We recognise in these challenging times for badminton across Melton the need to improve the next generation of players by offering them skills training and excellent facilities.”

Club nights at OGs will again be on Mondays between 8pm and 10pm, with new members welcome.

The Club will again be entering men’s, ladies’ and mixed teams in both the Leicestershire and Melton leagues.

Neil added: “We have made great strides in recent years and for players seeking a combination of good quality badminton and an enjoyable social side few clubs in the area are better placed than OGs to provide this.”
