Hotshot pupils from Brownlow Primary School are gearing up for regional finals after they were crowned area champions last week.

John Ferneley College played host to the Melton and Belvoir Schools mixed basketball tournament which saw Year 5 and 6 pupils from seven schools battle it out for the title.

Redmile, Bottesford, Old Dalby, Frisby, Grove, Brownlow and St Francis all took to the court for what proved a very competitive event.

Each School played each other in a round-robin format which saw Brownlow deservedly claim the crown with an undefeated record.

Frisby were runners-up having lost just one match to Brownlow who will represent Melton and Belvoir at the Sainsbury’s School Games Super-Series Final at Uppingham School on Wednesday, February 25.

Old Dalby Primary School were awarded the Spirit of the Games Trophy for their self-belief and determination throughout.

The competition was overseen by Sports Leaders from John Ferneley under the guidance of teacher Paul Jacobs, as well as Melton and Belvoir School Sport Development Manager Clare Marlow.
