Stoke Rochford GC’s seniors played their inaugural match at Lingdale and judging by the day’s experiences for most of the team, it seems certain this will be a long relationship.

Those playing the course for the first time found it in excellent condition with many interesting and challenging holes.

The visit was made more pleasurable by a rare Stoke away win.

LINGDALE SENIORS 3.5 STOKE ROCHFORD 4.5

Scores: Graham Manton/Stephen Major won 5 and 3; Jim Price/Keith Dugmore lost 6 and 4; Barry Coop/John Wright won 2 and 1; Ray Beal/Brian Keightley lost 6 and 5; Eddie Malloy/Eddie Plant won 1-up; Cliff Mills/Adrian Stannard won 1-up; Brian White/Tim Haward lost 2 and 1; Ray Elsome/Chris Woof match halved.

* Stoke’s seniors played out another closely-fought match which remained in the balance until the final pair came in, the visitors narrowly missing out this time.
