Stoke Rochford golf: Hamilton extends Winter Warmers lead

The latest in Stoke Rochford Golf Club's seniors Winter Warmer series was a Waltzer.

Mike Palmer, Tim Haward and Malcolm Edwards won with 78 points, just one ahead of runners-up Ron Kent, Ernie Armstrong and Ray Beal.

Just a further point back were Dave Wilkins and Wilf Stephenson with sleeping partner Gareth Hughes.

Players are awarded five points for the best score in the winter-long multi-round competition, down to one point for playing.

This week served up some strange results with only two players in the overall top 25 scoring more than one point.

David Hamilton scored two to increase his overall lead and Roger Green earned three points for manning the halfway house with Adrian Stannard.

Hamilton has 36 points, and now leads by five from closest challengers Brian Keightley, John Wright and Brian Nightingale.

Dave Waling leads the standings for the Slack Goblet, for the player with the most single points, with 11.

Nev Marris is one behind, while Alan Dolby, Phil White and Graham Manton each have nine points.

Six rounds remain to be played, weather permitting.
