After winning the Vale tournament back in November, they went on to play Bottesford, winners of the Melton tournament, in the finals.

It was a highly competitive game with Bottesford leading after the first quarter 6-3.

But Redmile were not phased and came storming back.

After three further periods of fast-paced, high-quality passing, dribbling and scoring, Redmile were ran out convincing 25-9 winners.

They will now represent our area at the county finals, to be held at the Leicester Riders stadium on Sunday, April 2.

Julie Hopkins, executive headteacher, said: “This is another amazing achievement for our school.

“We only have six Year 6 children so to achieve success in this tournament as well as the hockey last term is another remarkable achievement.

“Special thanks to Melton Basketball Club who gave individual trophies to the whole team in recognition of this. I am extremely proud of the whole team.”
