Ratcliffe College students have enjoyed great success over the last few weeks, in a variety of sports.

Olivia Back attended the England under 18s hockey training camp over Christmas, while her under 16s Leicester Ladies’ side is also through to the national indoor finals after winning their outdoor group.

Five students have retained their place in the Leicester Tigers Rugby Development Player Programme for 2016.

Harrison Grimmett (under 16s), Henry Wells and Rory Stoker (under 15s), and Joseph Collier and William Westwood (under 14s) had to come through a series of gruelling training sessions and trial matches.

And the Ratcliffe equestrian team showed off their talent with three out of four teams qualifying for the National Championships.

Qualification was based on their ability to jump steadily and carefully, bringing home the double clears needed for the teams to go through.

Ratcliffe’s director of sport, Phil Gilchrist, said: “It’s great to recognise the recent successes of our students.

“This is a continuation of the improvements over the last few years, where many of our students have excelled in all aspects of sport here at Ratcliffe.”
