Making the long trip from Peru to Melton earned its rewards for Luna Tobin as the Assassins’ newest fighter claimed her first win.

Luna has been training at the Melton Thai boxing gym for six weeks having journeyed over from South America just to gain some expert coaching.

On Saturday she travelled to Bournemouth with her Assassin coaches for a Muay Thai fight against Southampton’s Briony Tyrell on a mixed martial arts show.

Luna used her long reach to good effect in the opening round, landing punches and keeping out of her opponent’s range.

She began to unleash her punching and kicking combinations in round two as she continued to outscore Tyrell, and maintained her advantage in the third, using her superior technique to blunt her opponent’s fightback.

The Southampton girl upped the pace in the fourth, landing some good kicks, but the Assassin still came out on top. Tyrell threw everything at the tiring Peruvian and won the final round, but the Assassin won the contest - awarded fight of the night - on points.

Luna is set to return home to Peru, but the Assassins Gym are hoping she will return.
