Multiple junior world title holder Thai Barlow is set for a new challenge next month when he moves up to senior level.

The Melton Thai boxer is in intensive training for his first adult bout against Dutch knockout specialist Ko van Kooten on Saturday, March 7.

Thai’s junior record is stunning and boasts more than 100 bouts. His enviable CV includes four world titles, three European belts as well as 12 British titles.

He has also won two world championship silver medals and was a K1 World Cup winner in his division. But he will need all of his experience and skill against Kooten who has knockout power in both hands.

The fight is part of the Assassins’ Muay Thai show at the Market Tavern. Tickets are on sale from Nicko’s Fish Bar, any Assassin member or their Facebook page.

* Seven junior Assassins did their club proud as they travelled to Birmingham for an interclub competition on Saturday.

Elizabeth Griffiths (11) was a class apart against an opponent 5kg heavier than herself for a winning warm-up ahead of her next bout in Milton Keynes on February 15.

Another highlight was seven-year-old Cailain Nolan who showed good skills in only his second interclub contest.
