A field of 32 members turned out for Karen Middleton’s Lady Captain’s Day at Melton Mowbray Golf Club.
The ladies played in team games for 18-hole and nine-hole competitions.
The 18-hole competition was a full handicap stableford with one score to count on the first six holes, two scores on the next six, and all to count on the final six. The nine-hole competition used a full handicap betterball format.
Julia Brown, Pam Parker and Janet Bentley took the 18-hole honours with 72 points, three ahead of runners-up Dorothy Jaggers, Sally Hudson and Sue Hitchman.
Janet Hipkin and Di Ward won the nine-hole competition with 16 points.
Karen said: “We had a lovely day in good company with good humour and it didn’t rain, which was a bonus.”
After the prize presentation, vice-captain Liz Snow presented their skipper with a bouquet from the members to say thank-you for her hard work.
* Former lady captains of the club met up on Friday to take part in the Past Lady Captain’s Trophy.
Miserable weather conditions didn’t deter any players, and Fay Brook won the competition with 35 points, two ahead of close friend and playing partner Kathie Finn in second place.
The nine hole trophy was won by Margaret Hoskins from runner-up Joyce McLaren.
The game was followed by an afternoon cream tea and trophy presentation made by lady vice-captain Liz Snow.
