A Melton kickboxing pair have qualified for the world championships after accomplished performances at a national tournament.

Emmadee Fox and Dave Richards, members of the Melton branch of the British Chinese Kung Fu/Kickboxing Association, travelled to Manchester for the WKC (World Kickboxing Council) British Light Contact tournament. The event also doubled as the world qualifiers.

After months of training, fitness and sparring just to earn selection to compete, Emmadee fought her way through to the final.

There she came up against the current British and world champion and had to settle for silver after she was pipped on points at the final bell.

Dave fought his way through the rounds with ease and into the final where he met a huge opponent. But the Leicestershire fighter took his defence to pieces to complete a comfortable win and take the WKC British title.

Both will fight at the WKC World Championships in Portugal later this year.

Dave and Emmadee train under the instruction of world champion Brent Penniston who teaches BCKA kickboxing and Lou gar/BCKA Kung Fu.
