An accountant, from Stathern, who’s preparation training for the London Marathon was hampered by injury has completed the course in a time of 4hrs 6mins.

Matt Jordan (25), was unable to run outdoors due to picking up shin splints and had to spend the majority of his time training in the gym working on cardiovascular fitness.

Matt said: “Considering it was the first time I’d been able to run in the last two months due to my shin splints injury I was just grateful to make it round in one piece.

“The last seven miles were an absolute killer and the lack of miles in my legs really began to take its toll.

“The incredible support and copious amounts of jelly babies helped me drag myself over the line.”

Matt has raised over £1,700 for the Rosie May Memorial Fund almost double his intended target of £1,000.

He said: “I’d like to thank everyone for their generosity and support. I’d definitely consider running it again as the crowds were unbelievable.”

The Rosie May Memorial Fund was set up in memory of Rosie May Storrie (10) who was murdered at a Christmas party in 2003.

Her family have built and fully funded the Rosie May Home for tsunami orphans and abandoned girls in Sri Lanka giving them a future that Rosie May was denied.
