Notts AA angler John Cooke maintained his excellent form at Lakeview Fishery when he beat the ton mark at last Wednesday’s veterans match.
Fishing peg 20 on river, John took 106lb 8oz, finding the fish feeding consistently having recently changed to a maggot down the margin method.
Ian Donaldson, fishing on the golden peg, was not far behind using the exact same method, but 81lb was not quite enough to take the money. Third on the lake went to Roy Toulson with 79lb.
On the stream lake, weights were not so good, but the top two ran each other close as Roger Holmes just kept ahead of Cliff Adcock.
Roger used pellet down the track to land 63lb, while Cliff used bread across to finish with 61lb.
* All 12 anglers were on serpent for the Saturday match and yet again John Cooke came out on top, but he did not have things all his own way.
John again fished maggot down the margins to finish with 62lb 5oz, pipping Roger Peat by just five ounces, having found the fish across to the island on maggot.
Chris Shore also broke the 60lb mark, and Ray Rawsthorne was just under with 59lb 8oz.
Good back-up weights showed the fish have started to spread out which should make future matches at Lakeview much less predictable.
