It seemed the fish were pushed towards the end pegs when 16 anglers fished the Wednesday vets match at Lakeview.
Fishing the canal pool, Roger Holmes had a bit more room than most on peg two and claimed the match spoils with 69lb taken on pellet towards the bowl.
At the other end of the lake, John Cooke found himself on one of his favourite pegs, 19, and finished with 57lb, pushing Ian Donaldson (peg 29) into third with 51lb.
The rest struggled as the fish seemed uninterested in feeding. Seven anglers caught 20lb-plus, but Chris Shore took the section by a mere ounce from Dave Farrell with 29lb.
* On Saturday, the golden peg pot took another battering when John Cooke won it for the second time in two weeks.
John fished marina peg three and found the fish feeding on maggot down the track to land 74lb.
Roger Holmes was opposite John on peg 25 and took fish regularly on his shallow pellet rig, but at the weigh-in he was 4lb shy.
Andy Parker was third with 59lb, and Pete Sisson had 55lb with three more 50lb weights behind him.
