Hamilton Tennis Club began their summer fixtures with a 6-2 loss in the men’s over 60s league to Carisbrooke.

Doug Hacking and David Gildove won two sets, but second pair Selwyn Carter and Barrie Farnsworth could not add to the total.

The men’s Aegon team will be the next team to play followed soon after by the junior teams.

On Saturday, Hamilton will be holding its first open day of the year for players of all standards, including beginners.

All are welcome to join in the free tennis fun with racquets provided where required.

From 10am to noon there will be a session for primary age children (up to 11), and from 2pm to 4pm there will be two sessions, for secondary school age children (11 upwards) and another for adults.

There will also be a special subscription offer for new adult members who join on the day.
