Players from Yorkshire, Lancashire, Essex, Oxfordshire and surrounding counties joined home players at Hamilton Tennis Club for Leicestershire Junior Open.

The tournament, sponsored by Melton Mowbray Building Society, BAC Electrical and Brent Sports, attracted more than 100 entrants.

Ryan Parmar led the way for the Hamilton players when he finished runner-up in the men’s singles to Oliver Bickley (Essex) in a closely-fought two setter.

Jack Skailes beat Lucy Triggs in an all-Hamilton competition in the mini reds with James Drennan and Josh Gasson finishing runners-up in their respective groups.

Joe Jackson beat Hamilton clubmate Ben Catlin in the men’s consolation.

The remaining Leicestershire winners were Joe Cook in the boys’ under 18s and Erin O’Boyle in the girls’ under 12s.

* Hamilton’s Charlie Griffin and two former players, Helen Thorpe and Lucy Easters, represented Leicestershire in the Summer Inter-County Cup at Frinton.

The Melton pair retained their position in Group Three with Charlie ever-present during the week.
