Hamilton Tennis Club’s mixed first team made an excellent start towards retaining their Division One title with a 9-0 whitewash over Gynsill.

Scores: Ryan Parmar/Corinne Blythe W 9-0, 9-1, 9-1; James Rowe/Jess Gadsby W 9-1, 9-4, 9-6; Steve Wallace/Charlie Griffin W 9-0, 9-3, 9-4.

* There was another shut-out as the mixed second team maintained their winning record with a 9-0 win over Charnwood Seconds.

The team is bidding for consecutive promotions.

Scores: Jack Elliss/Amelia Coltman W 9-4, 9-3, 9-0; Tom Elliss/Carol Gilchrist W 9-6, 9-5, 9-2; Justin Horobin/Nicky Kennedy W 9-4, 9-5, 9-7.

* The mixed fourth team have not been achieving such good results as they lost 7-2 to Roundhill Fourths.

Barrie Farnsworth and Jo Rowe, and Matt Daniel with Emily Harrison each one a set, but the latter pair were forced to concede two sets after Emily sustained an elbow injury.

* The ladies’ veterans first team of Margaret Heggs, Helen Roper, Margaret Wright and Eileen Merrison lost 6-2 to Leicestershire, with Heggs and Roper recording the two winning sets.

The ladies’ veterans second team lost 5-3 to David Lloyd Seconds with Jo Rowe and Polly Dolby winning three sets.
