Hamilton’s mixed second team went top of Summer League Group Three after an 8-1 win against Oakham Firsts.

The team have a tough run of fixtures with all of the leading teams still to play.

Scores: Jo Heggs/Jack Elliss W 9-2, 9-2, 9-4; Carol Gilchrist/Tom Elliss W 9-2, 9-7, 9-3; Nicky Kennedy/Justin Horobin L 6-9, W 9-6, 9-2.

* The mixed third team defeated Westfields Seconds 8-1 with a maximum three sets from Laura McMullen and Ben Catlin, and Beth Lowe with Joe Jackson.

Sibella Chew and Andy Stevens won two for a comfortable victory.

Scores: Laura McMullen/Ben Catlin W 9-4, 9-3, 9-1; Beth Lowe/Joe Jackson W 9-6, 9-2, 9-2; Sibella Chew/Andy Stevens L 5-9, W 9-4, 9-1.

* The fourth mixed team could not keep up the winning run, losing 6-3 to a strong Leicester Forest East third team with each pair winning a set.

Scores: Emily Harrison/Will Harrison W 9-5, L 5-9, 1-9; Sue Corfield/Barrie Farnsworth W 9-0, L 3-9, 6-9; Margaret Wright/Joe Cunningham W 9-8, L 1-9, 7-9.

* Results have not been good in the veterans leagues although the men’s second team of Edwin Shufflebotham, Selwyn Carter, Graham Hall and Keith Galloway drew 4-4 with Roundhill with each pair winning two sets.

Doug Hacking and Steve Wallace won three sets for the men’s veterans first team, but they lost 5-3 to Carisbrooke as Bruce Smith and Barrie Farnsworth just missed out in a tie-break to earn a draw.

* The ladies’ veterans teams fared even worse with the first team of Cindy Coulter, Jude Plumb, Margaret Heggs and Rosie Gildove losing 7-1 to Oadby Granville, Margaret and Rosie winning the consolation set.

* The second team of Pat Woolston, Chris Stevens, Dee Adams and Christine Stanley lost 0-8 to Ashby Firsts, and the third team of Brenda Langridge, Christine Stanley, Alison Stone and Dee Adams were also whitewashed by Ashby Seconds.
