Di Burdett and Charlie Griffin, and Laura Morley with Amelia Coltman both won three sets as Hamilton Ladies’ began their season with an 8-1 win over Oadby Granville.

Scores: Laura Morley/Amelia Coltman W 9-3, 9-4, 9-4; Di Burdett/Charlie Griffin W 9-3, 9-2, 9-2; Jess Gadsby/Georgie Ashmore W 9-3, L 3-9, W 9-2.

* The men’s third team made a disappointing start to their season when they lost 5-4 to Quorn Firsts.

Jon Hacking and Jimmi Cox led the team with two sets, while Joe Jackson and Andy Stevens, and Bruce Smith and Doug Hacking won one each.

Smith and Hacking came close to winning the deciding fifth set but couldn’t quite complete the task.

* The men’s first team also had a disappointing start when they lost 6-3 to Loughborough Greenfields.

Tom Rowe and Steve Wallace won two sets, while Ryan Parmar and Tom Elliss won the other.

* The men’s fourth team lost 6-3 to Carisbrooke E with each pair winning a set.

Scores: Matt Daniel/Will Harrison L 6-9, 4-9, W 9-2; Graham Hall/Selwyn Carter L 4-9, 7-9, W 9-2; Craig Tracey/Barrie Farnsworth L 2-9, 6-9, W 9-7.

* The under 9s A team of Ben Greening, Adam Thornley, Alisha Dalby and Amber York drew 5-5 with Westfields A.

Alisha and Amber won two singles and combined to win their doubles but Ben and Adam found the Westfields top pair too strong.

* The under 8s A team of Alex Freestone, Luke Craven, Frazer Jackson and Jack Skailes beat Stoney Stanton A 9-7.

Alex won all his four matches, Jack won three and Luke and Frazer one each.

The under 8s B team of Hannah Richardson, Josh Gasson, Caitlin Corah and Fergus Black lost 12-4 to Oadby A with Fergus winning two sets, and Hannah and Josh one each.

* The under 14s girls – Libby Duncan, Abi Hickling, Beth Cavani and Niamh Wilson – found Lutterworth too strong and lost 6-0.
