Greetham Valley’s greens staff worked harder than ever to clear snow from the front nine of the Lakes for Saturday’s Ladies Winter Order of Merit.

Competition was cut to nine holes and 13-year-old Izzy Haughton took the win on countback from Lizzie Taylor with 15 points. Izzy’s mum Liz Haughton was third one point further back, and Pat Jamieson took fourth place with 12 points.

* All courses were open for play by Sunday and round six of the Winter League.

In Division One, Stephen Chisholm and Steve Burgon reached the quarter-finals with 12 points from six wins, while captain Fred Aspin and stand-in partner Martin Boughton moved into second with nine points.

Division Two proved more clear-cut with 2013 runners-up Iain Bain and Dave Morgan through with 12 points along with Carl Causbrook and treasurer Neil Crees who have 10 points after just one defeat.

Peter Dickinson and Peter Smith, who are attempting to win for a third straight year, are also through from Division Three as are Chris Steele and Darren Haughton. Both pairs have 10 points.

In Division Four, Steff Dutton and partner Alan Bennett are also through with 12 points, but the second qualifying place has still to be decided.

Father and son Paul and Adam Clegg have eight points and need to win or half their last match against Ben Miles and Mark Haynes, while Graham Day and Peter Key need to beat Trevor Smith and Mark Mousley and hope the Cleggs slip up.
