Leicestershire county men’s president David Ward enjoyed a rare chance to play for his Melton Town club last Thursday in a home match with Syston.

It was to good effect as he skipped his rink of Alan Dawson and Jenny McConnell to a 24-9 win as Melton won 71-60 on shots aggregate. The rinks were shared with Harold Twigg skipping Melton’s other win, 20-17, and Miles Clare (17-11) and Noel Evatt (17-16) leading the Syston wins.

Melton also shared the rinks at home to Kirby Muxloe on Saturday, but the overall aggregate was well in favour of the visitors who won 74-56 overall.
